Edit 58 x Smock London Elsie Lampshade Skirt Mink with Rosebud Trellis Hand Smocking

Introducing a very special collaboration with the Queen of handcrafted homewares, edit58. Born from a mutual love of hand crafted embroidery, our collaboration expertly marries fashion and interiors with a new collection of hand-smocked, ‘ready to wear’ lampshade skirts.

When we sat down to brainstorm together, just knew that hand smocking would translate wonderfully into the world of interiors. Don’t our lights deserve to be as well dressed as we are? Shouldn’t every lightbulb have its modesty covered by a pretty hand smocked skirt? We thought so, and thus set about designing a lampshade range that would elevate the humble fabric lampshade; with smocking being a design detail that enhances their appearance both when lit, and when not.

Named after Elsie de Wolfe, a woman who was aptly an icon of both sartorial and interior style in the 1930s, the Elsie Collection of skirt shades uses our signature hand smocking to create “waistbands” designed to hold the simple relaxed cotton shades in place. Hand pleated and sewn by expert artisans in Vietnam the shades feature an exclusively developed, intricately smocked Garden Trellis stitch design composed of trellis stitch latticework in vintage white and french knots in dusty pink on a canvas of exquisitely pleated Striped Mink woven cotton. They are available in two sizes: Mini Skirts and Maxi Skirts.

Each fabric lampshade skirt is sold with an optional bespoke Munro & Kerr card base shade: think of it as the petticoat to your skirt over which the lampshade skirt sits and the waistband grips onto. The base shade comes with an interchangeable fitting so that the shade can be used as a table lamp or a pendant shade - simply flip the fitting between the two settings – so they are ‘ready to wear’ straightaway.
